In order to increase the speed and scale of energy efficiency (EE) project deployment in buildings, energy savings analysis and a strong business case is required. This software provides an analysis for energy conservation measures (ECMs) and calculates energy savings, demand reduction, cost savings, and building life cycle costs including: simple payback, discounted payback, net-present value, and savings to investment ratio. This tool combines the capabilities of previously developed individual modules, and adds additional capabilities including:

·        A link to MS Word with automated report generation

·        Estimated heating and cooling interactions for certain building types

·        Fractional schedule wizard

·        C02 savings

·        Links to training materials

·        Improved summary tables

·        A consolidated format including most of the spreadsheet tools in one

 

With this software a detailed financial analysis of energy efficiency projects can be conducted in a couple of minutes. This tool helps to make a strong energy/business case for energy efficiency in buildings and presents the financial benefits of EE projects. Energy Audit includes several ECM calculators for different energy systems including:

Description

 

Engineers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have developed software that takes inputs of simple building inventory information and calculates the energy and cost benefits of various retrofit opportunities. This tool includes energy conservation measures for: low wattage T8, T12 to T8, LED exit signs, occupancy sensors, screw-in lighting retrofits, central lighting controls, vending machine misers, delamp vending machines, replacing desktop with laptop computers, replacing CRT monitors with LCD monitors, computer power management, removing personal printers, EnergyStar refrigerators, energy efficiency motor, cogged v-belts, steam leaks, low-flow toilets, low-flow urinals, low-flow faucets, low-flow showerheads, and cash flow calculator. Energy Audit calculates energy savings, demand reduction, on-peak/off-peak consumption and cost savings, heating and cooling interactions, and building life cycle costs including: simple payback, discounted payback, net-present value, savings to investment ratio, and C02 savings. This tool also provides report generation capability for pre-written text, e.g. EnergyPlus weather data, to describe the ECM and savings through Microsoft Word.
