FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates generally to the use of recombinant fluorescent: proteins as markers for gene expression and as fluorescent fusion protein tags and, more specifically, to the preparation of green fluorescent protein microsphere standards. This invention was made with government support under Contract No. W-7405-ENG-36 awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The government has certain rights in the invention.
