On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, from 12:30 p.m.–2:00 p.m. EST, Bioenergy Technologies Office staff members will talk about the latest joint efforts between the Department of Energy and the U.S. Navy to use biopower and biofuels in military vehicles. The “Biomass and the Military” webinar will provide an overview and recent updates on the plans and goals laid out by the Defense Production Act and the Innovative Pilot- and Demonstration-Scale funding opportunity. Both funding projects will develop novel processes and provide extensive opportunity to prepare for eventual commercialization, helping BETO meet its goals of creating reliable, sustainable, domestic biofuels to increase energy independence.

Staff from the Bioenergy Technologies Office (through the Department of Energy) will attend the Global Bioenergy Partnership's fourth meeting of the Working Group on Capacity Building in Berlin, Germany. The Global Bioenergy Partnership brings together governmental and international organizations to promote high-level dialogue on bioenergy and to facilitate international cooperation. The event will feature speakers from the Bioenergy Technologies Office.
