Catalysts For The Reduction Of Carbon Dioxide To Methanol

A catalytic composition is provided for methanol production. The composition includes an alloy of at least two different metals M and M', where M is selected from Ni, Pd, Ir, and Ru, and M' is selected from Ga, Zn, and Al. A molar ratio of M to M' is in the range of 1:10 to 10:1, and the alloy is configured to catalyze a reduction of CO.sub.2 to methanol.
