A mesofluidic valve is disclosed. The mesofluidic valve includes a cylindrical body having a bore formed there though, the cylindrical body including an inlet port disposed at a first end and an outlet port disposed distal to the inlet port and substantially adjacent to a second end of the valve body, a poppet disposed within the bore and moveable substantially between the inlet port and the outlet port, wherein the poppet is configured to cooperate with an orifice carried within the input port, a control element disposed at the second end of the cylindrical body, a shape memory element coupled to the poppet and configured to receive an electrical current provided by the control element, wherein the shape memory element is configured to contract in response to the received electrical current thereby causing the poppet to disengage from the orifice, and a bias element carried within the cylindrical body and configured to cooperate with the poppet, wherein the bias element is configured, in the absence of the electrical current provided to the shape memory element, to bear against the poppet to seal the orifice and the inlet port.
